FARHAN AKHTAR: No reason is required for the National Award winning filmmaker cum actor for this rank as his brilliant portrayal of the Legendary Indian athlete Milkha Singh in the July release “Bhaag Milkha Bhaag” was not only critically and publically acclaimed, but is also considered as one of the best portrayals of a famous personality on screen in Indian Cinema till date.
PRITHVIRAJ SUKUMARAN: For showcasing versatility with sheer excellence in four successful films this year : the National Award winning March release “Celluloid” as JC Daniel, the father of Malayalam Cinema , two summer blockbusters: “Mumbai Police” as a Homosexual Police Officer , “Memories” as an heartbroken encounter specialist and also in the Hindi film “Aurangzeb” as a faithful police officer son.
KASTHURI DHANUSH RAJA: The National Award Winning actor successfully broke into the Hindi territory with the June release “Raanjhanaa” as a Selfless lover where he became the second Tamil actor after the legendary Kamal Haasan for gathering a huge fan following with his first film, making them forget the “Kolaveri Di” virus. He continued his successful journey with the July released Tamil film “Maryan” , brilliantly portraying the character of a Fisherman and an Oil Worker at Sudan in which he also wrote a song , composed by the Academy Award winning composer A. R. Rahman.
KAMAL HAASAN: Despite controversies, the veteran and versatile filmmaker cum actor came up with the thriller “Vishwaroopam” in three languages: Tamil, Hindi and Telugu worldwide which he wrote, co produced, directed, acted in and even lent voice for few songs in the film. The film not only gained critical acclaim, but also was a box office success crossing the 100 Crore Mark, making the masses grip and wait for the film’s sequel which is scheduled to release on February next year.
AAMIR KHAN: For his splendid performance as the twin brothers in the film “Dhoom : 3” where he carried the film brilliantly on screen, making some twisty moments more interesting. Being his second film with the Yash Raj Films after ‘Fanaa’ in 2006, the film not only broke the record of being the film having highest advance booking set by the film ‘Ek Tha Tiger” in 2012, but also was one of the top grossers of 2013.
DULQUER SALMAAN: Son of the legendary Malayalam Superstar Mammooty, this talented and energetic actor kickstarted his career in 2012 with blockbusters like “Second Show” and “Ustad Hotel” and continued his successful feat this year with three blockbusters back to back “ABCD: American Born Confused Desi”, “Anja Sundarikal” and “Neelakasham Pachakadal Chuvanna Bhoomi” where he kept his excellence alike.
IRRFAN KHAN: He continued his excellence in the September release “The Lunchbox”, playing the character of a widower and retired government worker, after his National Award winning performance in the 2012 Sleeper hit “Paan Singh Tomar, opening to heavy critical and mass acclaim worldwide.
SOHUM SHAH: He produced the July release “Ship Of Theseus” and also acted in it as the stockbroker, who tries to fight for a worker’s justice in the third story of the film. The film as well as his performance was well received, with some national and international critics calling the film as one of the best cinematic imports from India till date. The film was also a Sleeper hit at the box office.
JOHN ABRAHAM: Apart from his performance in the Box office grossers “Race 2” and even in the summer release “Shootout At Wadala” where his perfromance was crticially acclaimed too, the National Award winning producer cum actor produced and acted in the critically acclaimed August release “Madras Café” which was also a moderate success at the Box office. Based on Rajiv Gandhi assassination , apart from the film’s cinematography, editing and screenplay, the actor’s performance along with the supporting cast’s were widely acclaimed, making the film one of the finest films of his career till date.
SATISH NEENASAM: He showcased versatility with sheer brilliance in two different roles: As a Superstar and a Film Projectionist who falls prey to a specific pill in the September released Kannada blockbuster “Lucia” which also had won the Audience Award at the London Indian Film Festival 2012.
